I study how teachers learn to teach computer science, and what shifts when computing is framed as sociopolitical.
My research sits at the intersection of the learning sciences, computer science education, and teacher education. I focus on critically conscious CS education, studying the ways pre-service teachers navigate critical perspectives of computing inside a CS teacher preparation program. My dissertation is chaired by Prof. Michelle Wilkerson at the Berkeley School of Education.
The throughline of my research is the intersection of the learning sciences and computer science education. My dissertation examines how pre-service teachers come to see computing critically. Through research apprenticeships, I have also studied undergraduate introductory data science and computational modeling in science classrooms.

I designed, developed, taught, and now research a CS teacher preparation course built around critical perspectives of computing. I trace teachers' sensemaking from pre-service coursework into their own classrooms, with follow-up interviews across their first three years of teaching.

This project examines the design and implementation of a social science informed introductory data science course, and the role such courses can play in the undergraduate curriculum. I led a curriculum crosswalk across institutions, conducted classroom observations, observed cross-institutional instructor meetings, and supervised two undergraduate researchers.
